Since cricket is one of the principal ingredients of the novel, the writer, like a typical batsman who wants his bat to talk, would like his words to speak on his behalf. He served for the best part of his life in the Indian Navy as an officer and later switched to the mercantile marine. Although a first class graduate of the Andhra University, he learnt more in the Indian Navy,on his trips around the world and in the school of life. He has published many humorous short stories and a range of articles in various magazines and newspapers in India.
GVRamarao joined the Indian Navy as an officer. After retirement he joined the Mercantile Marine. As a ship Captian he sailed all over the world.He published about 25 short stories and several articles on disparate subjects in newspapers and periodicals. He always found humour in his long life at sea
